That does look interesting. I wouldn't want to be the first to try them though.

I used to wheel a lot. . .

Im a skeptic... they are a couple hundred cheaper than Coil-Overs.. I wonder how they perform...looks like its an air shock ride. not a coil over like it claims to replace???

I believe they keep the coils springs, so they are simply a longer travel shock for a lot of money.

My coil overs made a huge difference in higher speed offroad capability. I don't believe these shocks can provide the same ride characteristics as coil overs. My guess is that their selling point is travel over ride?

I know a couple of people who are running them as a R&D testing thing. So far main advantage is long travel in short package. Good for rear of a tj if that is what you are looking for, i would like to move our lower rear shock mount up a few inches myself. There seem's to more testing and " mock-up " fittings going on right now. I think bump stop settings and limit straps will be a must with these shocks. There may be a lot more to come from the Cloakster's in the way of suspension in the near future. Also saw the JK rear canteleaver coilover system the other day. I forgot who makes it but it looks cool. I should have taken pics but didn't think to do so, forgot I could have used my phone. Brad will have some company soon. This one is also a black 4 door with rock jock 60's.

Joe and Sue getting a JKU? I hope so!

I think the rear cantalever set up was a Rancho system. The one I saw used a lot of the area where the factory muffler is located.

It was not Rancho, the kit used 16" travel king's all around and the rears were mounted behind the rear axle. It also came with gas bump stops and limit straps.

When I was cantina for the Con I talked to the metalcloak guy (cant remember his name) about them. Apparently they work really well, although i would go with a coilover if was going to be doing any fast desert racing.

Exreme Gear does a cross arm coil over for the rear - just like the Rancho set up.

I know the guy who has it from them. IMO there is no substitute for a coil over. They soak up bumps like nothing, at both slow and high speed.

I will admit that I know a lot about these shocks as I have worked with MetalCloak throughout the development of the shock. The 6Pak shocks have been designed to work in conjunction with the MetalCloak Duroflex suspension system and provides up to 14inches of vertical wheel travel in front and 12 inches in the rear while remaining completely bolt on and only 3.5 inches of lift!
Just a little background on me; I Have been involved with the off-road industry for over 25 years professionally and would gladly answer any questions about these shocks specifically; for that matter if I can be of assistance on anything off-road drop me a note and I would love to help.

Hi!
Do you have different lengths for the shocks? Say, one that fits a 6"lift up front? Are the shocks adjustable? I don't have a metal cloak lift on my jeep, but it is a long arm set up.

We do have different length shocks; 12-14-16 stroke equaling 25in extended, 28, and 31. the 28 will probably fit your lift as it is currently set up however the 31 would be a fun upgrade if you want to tackle the other mods that may need to be done such as possible steering and driveshaft interferences. MetalCloak is just down the hill from EDH in Rancho Cordova, give us a call and come down and check these out in person if you like!
