😯 Long story but......The Stealership said my bottom end is shot. The service rep said he would have to pull some strings to get it covered by the 70,000 powertrain warranty (the Jeep has 38,000) because I "modified" the Jeep. They called me back and said they would cover it but I would have to pay the $100 deductable and $600 in labor.

I didn't modify the engine except a MML. I have a DC service contract and they have done all the maint. on it.

I know I overheated the Jeep but I did'nt think it was that bad.

I'm going back in tomorrow to talk with the GM to find out why they can't cover the labor.

You guys think I have a point not to be charged the $600?

I'm F'n depressed. 😥

sorry to hear the sad news 🙁

I would ask them to provide a written response why they are denying the warranty.

I think they should cover it less the deductable period.

Closed Mondays.

That bites Jim! 😥 😥 😥
I didn't think it was legal for them to deny the warranty due to vehicle modifications. Hopefully it all works out.

Did they give you a time frame on when it would be done?

You might want to research the Magnuson/Morris Act. In a nutshell, it says dealers can't deny warranty coverage when you've modified your vehicle if the modifications weren't the cause of the problem.

I'm going in this morning to see the GM. I'm going to ask where it says in the warrany that it would not be covered.

I'll ask for a written response also.

I think they will drop the labor charge if I just heat it up some rant

They said they could get it done by next week.

Sounds to me like you're getting ripped off. A MML wouldn't be a direct cause of any problems like that. SEMA has made sure that this exact type of thing doesn't happen by stepping and protecting your rights. You need to push them on that and make sure they cover it all.

That all assumes that you had damage because of a mechanical failure, not by something like your radiator being stuffed full of mud. I could see that being considered a self-inflicted type of issue that I could understand them denying coverage. You didn't bring it up there with the radiator full of mud did you?

Out in the garage collecting parts....

No way! I hosed it out good before I brought it in. wink

But yeah, I can see them saying that I probably did the damage myself. I never told them the radiator was packed with mud tho, just I over heated.

Good thinking!

Ummm.... no, I don't know why it overheated. Over course my engine bay is always steam cleaned, why do you ask? lol

Update........So I went back and questioned why they want to charge me the $600 in labor if its under warranty. He said he would look into it and call me back.
They called back today and told me they would have to tear into the engine and determine why it failed to see if it is covered. Hmmmm

How in the hell could they tell how it failed??? 😕

I got a bad feeling about this.....

I miss my Jeep 😥

This is what happened to me when they replaced the upper end of my motor at 500 miles.
