Ran my TJ with a front bumper air tank for 10 years. It was still on it when I sold it.
The main problem I had was getting rid of all the small leaks initially. After that, I sanded everything smooth and never had any problems. a TJ front stubby bumper held .75 gallons of air and made a perfect reservior for my electric compressor.
I forgot to mention my bumber was .250 wall so it could take a beating on the trail without a failure risk.
