Since I'm on-call and had to stay home I figured it would be a good time to get some things done on the Jeep. I replaced the upper ball joints I had put in. I decided I didn't need the offset ball joints and they may be causing some trouble. I put in a new front axle seals since the passenger side was seeping, replaced the drag link TRE on the Currie steering, replaced the unit bearings/hubs, changed the fluid in the rear end since it was leaking and needed to be resealed anyways, changed the oil & filter and lubed the chassis.
I've been trying to resolve a pre-death wobble before it got too bad. After all the work I took it for a test drive and the handling is better than it's been in long time. I was feeling great with all the work I got done until . . .
When I went to get it out of the street and park it in the garage for the night there was a big puddle of gear lube under the front passenger side knuckle. I guess I screwed up the seal somehow when I put it in and now it leaks worse than it did originally. I know I drove it in a little farther than it was but didn't think that would be a big problem. Now I get to pull the axle shafts and ring gear/ARB to do the job all over again. 🙁

I know what you mean! Sometimes it just feels like we make it worse and it shakes your confidence too! On the bright side sounds like the handling was a lot better, so you did something right!
I did the axle seals on my toyota and they leak too. When I redot he front end I'm gonna replace mine AGAIN as well. So I feel your pain.

Look into Marlin's new seals. They're pricey, but so far, knock on wood, they seem to be doing a good job. They allow for some misalignment. Since I don't have the SST some room for error is good by me! 😀

The ironic thing is I wasn't entirely sure if it was the ball joints or the hubs causing the wobble so I figured I'd replace both while I was doing the work so I wouldn't have to do it again. I got the Jeep almost all the way back together and found out one of the new hubs was bad and wobbled. So I had to order another new one and redo that side. Now the seal leaks and I need to redo it again. So much for my do it once idea. I just hope third time's a charm.

Those are the ones I have! I hope they work.
