I have decided to upgrade my JKU Rear Axles to Chromoly. I did some looking around and I found some Ten Factory Axle Shafts by Motive Gear with tone rings and bearings pressed in ready to go on my Jeep for $460. This way I can keep my old shafts for back ups or sell them complete with only 1 year of use on them.
How hard is it to simply pull out my stock shafts and slide the new ones in? I have watched YouTube videos and it looks fairly simple. Based on quotes i have received from various shops they will charge me about 1.8 hours to do the install which is about $200.
I was given 12 ton jack stands and a floor jack for christmas and have all the tools I should need based on the videos I have watched.
Ten Factory Axles I am looking at are available at Northridge Fully assembled. I am also talking to On The Road Trucks to see if they can meet the same deal so I can send some Posse business their way.

Thanks!

What have you done for the FRONT axle?
The rear D44 in a JK is pretty stout from the factory, much stouter than the front units and should reliably handle 37" tires.
The front D44 really needs tubes, gussets, CRV shafts, and HD ball joints to reliably run the same 37" tires.
I don't have any practical experience on this but I have done tons of research on JK axles and 37" tires.
Please ignore this if you've already done the front upgrades 🙂
I used to wheel a lot. . .

John,
I appreciate the feedback and you are right about the front axles. I have already taken care of the above as you mentioned. Thanks!

Very easy to do. Also a good time to do the rear brakes. No special tools are needed if the bearings are already pressed on. Sounds like a great excuse for you to buy us pizza and make a mess in your driveway!
Thanks Kris! Once I get the axles I may put it out there for folks if they want to get some free Pizza... and get their hands a little dirty... Lol....
