My son and his friend were on the Rubicon yesterday. At little sluice there were some idiots lighting off illegal fireworks that could have caused a wildfire because of the fact that they were not safe and sane fireworks. He yelled at them (his friend is police officer and both legally carry) but shortly after that the group continued to light off fireworks. He took some pictures of them and might post them on Pirate 4X4. All we need is some idiots to cause a major wildfire to destroy the beauty of the trail and give all off roaders a bad name. Morons!

Did anyone report them to the Forest Service?

I don't know if anyone reported them. There were red flag fire warnings and these idiots are lighting off fireworks on the Rubicon. In 2014 the King fire burned 97,000 acres and destroyed a lot of beautiful recreational area. If a fire started out on the Rubicon it would be extremely difficult to fight because it would be inaccessible to fire apparatus so it would need to be fought by hand crews flown in by helicopter and by an air attack. Lighting off fireworks out there this time of the year shows an unbelievable level of recklessness and stupidity.

Common sense and respect seem to be a rare traits these days. Too many city folk "escaping to the mountains" and bringing their stupidity with them. I haven't went hunting in almost 20 years because I was tired of being scoped or shot at. I even had a truck full of drunk teens run over my tent one night, so glad I wasn't in it at the time. One only has to spend a weekend on the Con to see many examples of what I'm talking about.

I used to wheel a lot. . .

I believe El Dorado County Sheriff has jurisdiction on the trail. If you have any pictures of them, pass them along to me and I will get them to the sheriff dept. I have a good buddy that works there, and frequents the Rubicon often.

Also, I believe ElDo Sheriff were out on the trail this weekend during the day saying hi to people and letting them know that they are watching... sounds like they need to stick around at night.

El Dorado on the Loon side and Placer on the Tahoe side. Not sure where the line crosses but I can ask my buddy Rob (Kevin's experienced friend laughing) if you're interested.

According to "Kevin's Experienced Friend", Placer has the Tahoe side down to The Springs and a mile over by Ellis.

They must of been yahoos from out of the area. And only live in a concrete environment.  Sounds like they only think of them selfs and don't care about the environment, nature and keeping trails open and accessible to all.  People like that give off roaders look bad in the public eye. loser

Any and all fireworks are illegal in El Dorado County.  Even those little snakes are illegal in all of El Dordao County.

So long and thanks for all the fish!!!
