I'm having the on-going internal struggle between wanting 37" tires and knowing that 35" tires make A LOT more sense.

2015 Rubicon Unlimited
Manual with 4.10 gears

I think 37s look way more awesome, but I'm afraid of running them with stock gears. This has to be my daily driver family hauler, and part-time MODERATE wheeler.
The budget will not be able to include everything to run 37s AND a re-gear. If I pull the trigger on 37s I'd have to live with the gears and if I break an axle I'm screwed.
If I go with 35s, the budget opens up a lot and I'd be able to get a lot more out of my budget; winch, air compressor, nicer tire carrier, etc...

Since it's slow around here today, talk me into or out of 35s or 37s

I'd say go 35's for now and teach us young kids how to wheel.

Um...what?

Well, I'm NOT going to wheel this one like I did my TJ. Not spending $50,000.00 to go beat it up on the trails like I did last time. I see snow runs, toy runs, maintenance runs, and maybe a couple times a year taking a nice SLOW stroll across the Rubicon. No "heavy" wheeling.

And I'm not THAT old, sonny-boy :)

Well 35's should work for what you want, especially if you not going hard core. I think the 37" tires will increase your chances of breaking your jeep and that's not fun lol

The nice thing, if I go with 35s now, only the tires would have to be changed when I decide to go with 37s. They both use the same lift and I'd just have to switch to flat fenders. Nothing wasted or thrown away.

I originally wanted to g 40s with my jeep, but budget was an issue. Or lack there of a budget, so I decided 37s. Still getting impatient waiting for my money tree to sprout, I thought about going with a small lift and 35s to hold me over. But, the more I thought about it, the more I wanted 37s and thought I'd be unhappy with 35s. I don't want to drag my newer jeep over all the trail obstacles.

I hear with a manual, that 4:10s and 37s is doable.

Everything I say is hearsay.

Um...what?

I'm leaning towards 37s because the "wheeler" in me is having a hard time settling on 35s :)

37s eat into the budget very quickly with everything it takes to run them. Tube fenders alone are around $1,000 a set. I could do 35s for about $2,000 less and have room in the budget for a winch, air system, and other goodies. The debate inside my head continues. . .

The other option is to run something like the BFG KM2 which runs a little smaller and is a little lighter.
I should be able to run those with the stock gears and stock fender flares with very minimal rubbing.
It's kind of an "in the middle" solution but the tires don't seem as good as the Goodyear MT/Rs.
But then I hear the MT/Rs wear out really fast. . .

I've been running 37 km2s for years on nothing but a cheap teraflex lift - the only place I've been told they are weak is in the snow and I've done many snow runs and never had an issue - I will probably never buy another tire - just going up in size next go around.

I have the lame 3.8 and auto box and I ran them on stock gears for months - worked but was stupid - the 3.6 with a 3 pedal set up should be manageable
- that and I'm at 50 thousand miles on them and still have some left which is a +

Not the best pics but it's all I could find - I have never rubbed anywhere and may have just a bit more room to trim the bump stops

Then again mine have been sitting under a project rig for going on 3 years now... No actual experience here, but I haven't heard very good feedback on sidewalls on the newer MT/Rs FWIW - but then again America's Tire has a great replacement warranty!

Looks good, but hard to tell if you would have mashed the non-trimmed fenders. Almost looks like it would though. Thanks for the pics.

I bit the bullet and ordered a set of tube fenders for the front.
Now looking around for some rear fenders, looks like I'll be going 37s for sure now :)

Not that it matters any more but yes without the trim on stock fenders I did hit them.

I think 37s are a much better option on a 4 Door as opposed to 35s

What fenders did you order?

I ordered the Poison Spyder Narrow fenders for the front. I liked the way they tied into the sub frame to distribute the impact forces and I like the look of the narrow fenders in the front.
After I get them and measure them I will figure out which rear flares I want to get.

Yeah, I still get those emails from the board and peek in every once in a while to see what's new. Sounds like the club is now based out of Granite Bay instead of EDH, eh?

I've currently got a Tacoma that I've been working on for about a year and a half and then were under a different project for about 2 years that I abandoned and got rid of. One of those work on it every weekend for a month, then burn out and it sits for two kind of deals. Currently sitting with three corners of suspension and waiting for me to get off my butt and get the last coilover mount done and mounted up front so it can finally be off the jackstands. For now it's all about web wheeling and watching what other people are building.

Out in the garage collecting parts....
