So the muffler is about to fall off the Ford. It's an 89 Ford F350 with a 460 and I'm done sinking money into it. I've been trying to sell it for a while and I'm not having any luck. I'll probably part it out. At this point I need it to last until I can finish refinancing my house, find the right truck, and sell my car. Maybe 3 months? I mainly drive it in the snow and cutting fireword or dump runs. I don't trust it too far from the house or in the forest at this point. Aside from it being obscenely loud will it hurt it short term? Will I hate the noise more than the crazy exhaust leak and freaking rattling of a muffler about to fall off thatI have now? Anybody want to buy a ford with a ton of miles, a wicked exhaust leak, significant oil leakage, a funky smell, and new front brakes?

There is enough back pressure in the cat to keep the valves from burning, so no worries there.
If the cat is still operable, there are no worries but if not ... a spark from the exhaust could create a fire danger should you be hanging onto the truck for a bit.
My neighbor has a mid-70's Ford pickup for sale. No info but I can check into it if you're looking for something for not a lot of $$$ that is in better condition than the vehicle you currently own.
