Springs Vs. Spacers

I am looking to gain an 1"-2" of clearance for my JK. Currently, I have a 3.5" Teraflex lift (springs, shocks, control arms, etc). I am looking at either replacing my 3" springs with 4" springs, or keeping my existing springs and adding the JKS adjustable coil spacers. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Ive done both approaches.

If you know your final height, then sprins are good. If you are still evolving, I suggest ACOS because they can be continually adjusted as you change things (add a winch, change a winch, replace wire with rope, change a front bumper or add taller rear springs).

Do you have long control arms?

I used to wheel a lot. . .

I run both. ACOS provide you options as you evolve your rig setup. You can expand up or down as your needs change.

A stock JKU control arm is the equivilent of a mid arm set up on a TJ. They are fine with 4" or even 5" of lift.

Above 5" of lift could cause similar geometry we saw in Tj's running lifts with short arms.

Acos are good for when the driver gains weight the jeep will have nice lean. Acos will fix that.

Um...what?

That's what happens when you eat to much pizza. This is what happens if you drive a trugy do to the lack of a heater or roof.

If you are going 4-5" I recommend getting adjustable control arms to keep the pinion angle help with geometry.

Yes, well I've modified the crap out of one and have done absolutely nothing to the other. I obviously know my TJ inside and out, but I'm lucky I even know how to start my JK 🙂

Looks like the ACOS spacers are the way to go. I already have TeraFlex adjustable upper and lower Control Arms and Track bars, so the only issue I am worried about now is the drive shafts. I just noticed that I am already cutting a groove in my front driveshaft where it is rubbing on the transmission skid plate. I am still running the OEM drive shafts with the slip yokes. Anyone else run into this problem on their JKU? Did you change the drive shaft, and what did you go to?

When you go over 2" aftermarket drive shafts are in order. If you are keeping the stock skid plates they will need to be notched to avoid contact at full droop
