A buddy of mine just purchased a 99 tj and has some interest in doing some of the fun stuff we all love to do - he is brand new to the jeep and offroad thing. I think he has a 99 auto sport (which i think means dana 35 outback but I have not even gotten a look at this thing yet) it is supposedly all stock with some cheap 30" ATs) After I help him go through it and make sure things are sound im going to introduce him to and go over basic 4x4ing - is there anything particular to this model I should point out to him (weak spots or other weird jeep junk related to this model) and are there some easy yet fun trails i would be able to take him to other than just say prairie city (which is probably where we will start). I hoping to get him interested in the activity and get him along to some meetings

I would add one more. Gas tank skid.
There won't be a whole lot that a stock tj can do at Prarie city without some armor. But if you take him over the easy stuff with his and then jump in yours for the harder
stuff the 4wheeling bug should bite him pretty good.
Just look what happened to Carl after wheeling out there.

There's a trail in south lake Tahoe that is guarded by a gate that is opened on the weekends. It basically is a dirt road that weaves through rock piles so you can make it as difficult as you would like and it might be a fun place for him to see you wheel on the hard stuff as well as him still being able to drive the trail. I'll see if I can find a video of the trail so you can check it out.
Um...what?

Yes, a little east of Sparks. Here are some pictures of the trip. Several Posse members were suppose to go but the morning of the trip across the pass there was a freak snowstorm and no one could get over.

I notice you have Branco trail and moonrock in the pics together is Branco near moonrock/hungry valley i go up there a few times a year
They're not too far apart. We had homebase in an RV park in Sparks and hit Bronco Canyon one day and Moonrocks the next. It wasn't a long drive to either.
