I was thinking about installing the terra low 4:1. Is there any one that has experience or advice with this unit. Also how does the 2wd low work? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks... ❓

Most people not running an atlas have the terra low kit. I have owned both the 4-1 and the 4-1 with the 2-lo option. I didn't like the 2-lo option becuase it was difficult to tell when you were in 4-lo and 2-lo, and some times it would hop out of 4-lo into 2-lo.

Overall, I think they are good kits. When installing the 4-1, change over to the wide chain upgrade in your 231 at the same time. It will make the whole set up last longer.

I've had no problems with my current set up and it has both the 4-1 and wide chain in it. You may not need a SLE because you have an LJ, but it will help keep fluid in your case if you lose the rear driveline.

Good luck! The install is fairly straightforward if you have some good snapring plyers and good RTV.

I put the 2-lo kit in my TJ when I installed the sye. I occasionally struggle with 4-lo and 2-lo as Brad mentions. But I find I end up using 2-lo quite a bit and am glad that I have it.

I don't have the 4-1 gears, but its another thing on my to do list.

Thanks for the great info. But Toyota in a Jeep? I think not.... (Marlin Crawler). And the Atlas would put me in the poor house. Who makes the wide chain for the Transfer case? Thank again... 😀

It's been done. 😀

I like my two low. It's great for Sacramento traffic. Just drop it into two low and roll on through.
