OfflineIf you are going to use it as a trail spare only, I would say just plug it. I would never run it on the street unless you run a tube inside it. Sidewall cuts are prone to blow outs at high speed.....

When we were in Utah one of the guys punctured a tire similar to that. Since it was only hissing when it was at the bottom of the revolution he decided to try to drive back to camp. He made it about a mile down the road and had a catastrophic blow out. No one was hurt, but the entire sidewall of the tire came apart.

Good call, the idea is just as a trail spare. The downside though would be if I had to run it to drive home, I don't think I'd trust it.

Just patch it, put in a tube and run it as a spare.
I think it would work better than just a plug or patch.
