Ok, some of you know what happened to my tires from the fordyce run. But for those who don't, there are chunks of tread missing. It turns out those tires are from '98 😯 . One of them is from '01 and it is in decent condition so i am going to use that as my spare. It has 35" BFG MT's on it now, but i need to get some new tires.
I was going to get the Goodyear MTR's, but it turns out that there was something wrong with the mold in the 35" size, and they havent been made for a year. They are just starting production again, but the soonest i would get any would be about a month. I need to get new tires before the Sierra Trek, so i need to make a decision fairly quickly.
They need to be somewhat streetable tires, not boggers or anything. I know that the MTR's are what most people reccommend, but are there any other choices out there or should i just wait for the MTR's to come in stock? Or should i just get the BFG's again? I didnt really like the traction they gave on dirt, but it might just be the truck.
I have also been thinking of possibly getting the new BFG mud terrains, that look like the Krawler tire. Any opinions on those? Thanks for reading.
Oh, or should i just ditch the offroad stuff and lower it?? I mean, why not just pave the rubicon... all those big rocks are always getting in the way of my truck!

I have waited since January for my 35 MTR's. I ordered them from Big Zero and they kept saying they were on National Backorder. I called around many times and finally Americas Tire said they located 4 in Phoenix that just arrived there so I jumped on them. Bummer is they arrived here at the shop the day I took in the Jeep to get the short block installed at the stealership. 😥 But I got them! 😀

Ok i think ill just wait for the MTR's. Les Schwab had like 48 of them.. then some jeep company bought all of them. 😡 I could have had them in 2 days. One of the other places i checked can get them in a few weeks but they are more expensive. I think i am going to have to go with that place though.

Yea, i forgot to mention one of the big things i need is to have a somewhat decent lifespan, as i cant afford be buying tires very often.
I looked at the BFG Krawlers, but they are quite a bit more expensive than the MTR's, about $50 a tire from what i saw. The Xterrains are about the same price as the MTR's. One of the tire dealers MIGHT be able to get some MTR's in about 2 weeks, so i will see what he says when he calls me back. I dont plan on any wheeling in the next few weeks, so that would work out.
I guess the MTR is the best tire out there.. so i think i will just wait for them. The latest it would be before they came in is about a month and a half, about sierra trek time. But i think i will be able to get some before then. Thanks for all the help! 🙂

My 35" Toyo's go right behind those MTR's. Once I found the air pressure that works best, I went through Fordyce and now Rubicon with no trouble. I was sticking to the same rocks as everyone else. I don't know about longevity, but you can't argue with MTR's success. If I got a new pair, it would likely be MTRs.
