Does anyone know the size of the large nut that holds the pitman arm on the steering box on a TJ?

Chuck stopped by to have me help diagnose sloppy steering. We found the pitman arm was moving on the steering box shaft. It turns out his drop pitman arm is worn and missing some teeth. Fortunately the steering box appears to be fine.

We got the nut off with a large adjustable wrench, but it would be good to have a proper fitting socket to put it back on. A 1 3/8 wrench was too big. A 30 mm socket was too small and a 36 mm socket was too big also.

I use a large wrench, but think my 32mm wrench fit it. I'll confirm tonight.

I have a 1 5/16 socket that I used on my impact for the pitman arm nut.

I used to use one of those too, but somebody replaced it with a left hand model.

I used to wheel a lot. . .

I've got one of the metrinch adjustable wrenches so it fits most stuff except Land Rovers.

I have a 32mm socket that is tight, but good. The 1 5/16 is a bit loose, but some use that size.

I used 1 5/16 with a metric impact gun. 😯
