With the doing spring over on my Samurai and now thinking about maybe converting to YJ springs. I have bump-stop questions. Currently do not have any bump-stops. With the springs I have now I do not have any problems with wheel rub or parts hitting with the flex I have. Someone told me that even if I do not have a problem with parts hitting, that bump-stops creates a leaverage and will help with keeping the lower wheel on the ground longer. So what is everyone's thoughts and advice on bump-stops? If yes, how much travel should I have before they hit?

bump stops
ive got ripples on the fenders of the tj because of bad bump stops (to short)
hardly noticeable but i need longer ones
so thats a yes on the bumpstops
also im on coil springs not leaf

I've never heard of the bump stop leverage thing. Maybe it's a lighter vehicle type thing? What about trimming to accommodate the travel? :hack: 😀 Otherwise I'd put as little bump stop as needed to protect the body.

You definetly need bump stops. When metal hits metal bad things happen. You want to set your bump at least a half inch before the shocks bottom out. Some softer bump stops need shock shaft stickout. You could get away with a simple poly bump and be happy.
