This is for the JK/JL owners. I have spent the last year and a half working on my TJ so now it's time to focus on the JK. I picked up 5 37x17 Nitto Trail Grapplers on a flash sale and now am looking for wheels. Did you install the TPMS sensors in your setups? Any suggestions on TPMS types for 2017 and aftermarket wheels if you run them. I have not decided on wheels so any suggestions on those also (brand, offset, backspacing I prefer not to use spacers)  I will have questions on lifts and shocks later when I get to them.  Thanks!

No TPMS for me. You will need a little programmer to turn off the TPMS setting so you don’t have dash lights. I just find them point less. With large tires I usually only run 25psi. I can tell real quick if a tire is losing air.

Um...what?

I am pro TPMS. Yes they are a pain to re-program and cost more to get tires swapped, but they can pay for themselves with one puncture.  Say for example you pick up a small nail in the tread and you get a slow leak.  Once you are running larger tires you will need to be below 10 or 12 psi before the tire will have a visible bulge and be obvious.  In the mean time you could have been driving 50 freeway miles a day and now the internal structure of the tire is compromised.  And since 31s aren't a thing any more you are looking at multiple hundreds to replace a tire. (~$400 if you are on a 40" tire)

-Yes, keep TPMS (use a real shop to mount your tires so they will fix them if there is an issue)

-Correct TPMS pressures (i like a bluetooh OBD2 adapter and the OBD JScan app but there are tons of options)

They can get in the way, or break the valve stem, if you ever need to re-seat a bead on the trail. If I could only think of a recent trip where this almost became an issue where the same vehicle lost two beads. confused

And how did we ever survive before TPMS? I don’t have them.

Thanks for the advice.  I can understand Kris's point. I had a similar situation where I had a slow leak on my truck tire and did not notice and the tire blew on the freeway. Didn't have a tire patch big enough haha. I am more diligent with checking tire pressure over the years so I may forgo the TPMS.

Yes to TPS. I run them and they work perfectly.   They are easy and most wheels support them.  My Walker Evans worked with them. Racelines did not.

Dont go garage fab and start turning off factory safety items to cover for poor design.  Nearly every wheel can support TPS. My $70/ea wheels even work with The sensors.

Sounds like a use case for beadlocks if I ever heard one.
