Track bar end bushing.

Ok I am sure this topic has been beat to death but here it goes anyway.

I just replaced most of my front end steering components in my 03 Rubi. I was driving along minding my own business and lo and behold I experienced the dreaded death wobble. I figured out the culprit was my track bar bushing where it connects to the diff bracket. The metal bushing has some play in it as well as the bracket itself is a little bit ovaled. 🙁 I read that some people drill out the bracket and install a larger diameter bolt, while some others do the same and install an adjustable track bar w/Johnny joint or urethane bushing etc.

What is the best fix for this problem while adding strength and eliminating this problem?

Thanks you in advance.

I had more problems with the dreaded death wobble when my 06 tj was stock ( darn railroad tracks). I've since lifted and the kit came with an adjustable track bar which I've drilled and upsized the bolt. I have not been wheeling as much as most of these guys have, but haven't had any further issues with mine. Even those railroad tracks that cross the road at an angle don't scare me now.

My lift is a Rubicon Express 3.5 lift with stock track bar. What track bar did you use and how much bigger did you make the bolt/hole? Did you use the stock type bushing?

I upsized to 7/16 on the axle side and the track bar is a Rubicon Express RE1600. The track bar is listed for lifts from 3.5 to 4.5. There are other good track bars out there, this one happened to be on sale so I bought the RE and its worked great for me.

I run poly full-size suspension bushings on my track bar. So far they've worked great.

BKGM..what do you mean by "full-size" suspension busings on your track bar. What size is full size, and is the bolt a larger diameter?

The bolt is 1/2 or 5/8 from what I recall. The bushing is also wider than the factory one. The change required a beefier bracket to accomodate the "enhancement".
