Has anyone used exhaust wrap to keep the heat from the exhaust from heating up other things like the transmission? I feel like my tranny temps are a little high and i notice at a dead stop the temp seems to rise, which is making me think the heat from the exhaust pipes may be adding to the transmissions heat.

Seems like a cheaper, low-risk option so it's probably worth trying first. I also believe they sell shielding material too, which could be used.

I talked to BOR about it on Monday, they said most likely the heat is coming from the Torque Converter not locking up in stop and go driving. Which is what I primarily encounter in and around the neighborhood and everywhere we go. It seems I can't go a block without stopping. They suggested driving in OD Off as this locks up the TC in second gear and beyond vs. not locking it up until 4th gear. He also said for my specific application (super heavy 40's) they have installed a second cooler in the system to further reduce temps as this will add 1 more quart to the system and increase the length of time the fluid is away from the heat source and add more cooling down time via the heat sink. They recommended the 18" heat sink variety as there is a good place to mount it under the radiator cross member.
Other suggestions were:
Replace the cooler that came with the system with a larger cooler. It seemed small to begin with honestly, the auxillary cooler I had when i had the v6 is bigger.
Replace the transmission pan with a pan that is larger and has fins for additional cooling.
I'm adding the heat sink this week we will see how much of an improvement that is before we change anything else. It does great on the highway(lots of air flow) or in 4-lo (less tranny stress), just want to get that stop and go driving temp down before the 100 degree days of summer get here.
