On the Strawberry Maintenance Run I aired down my 315/70/17 M/T MTZs to ~12 psi. I have 17x9 wheels, non-beadlocked.
There was a portion of the trail that had healthy mud ruts. It was before Vrock if I recall correctly. Upon coming out of that I heard my driver front starting to relieve itself. So, the gap b/t the tire and rim was enough to allow little pebbles/rocks enter and allow the leaking.
So Jeff had me pull off to the side of one of the water crossings. Pulled the wheel off and attempted to break the bead enough with tire iron and screw driver to get pebbles/rocks out. Water was used but to no avail. This first video, taken by Trail Master George, shows this futile effort.
Then it was decided to pop the bead completely and wash it out. Joe was not successful with his little Jeep to drive onto the sidewall in popping it off. LOL
So the next successful idea was as shown in this next video:
I learned something from this fiasco and glad I wasn't running 16.5 wheels. Airing back up was a snap.
Thanks so much George and fellow Posse mentors.
