I am personally going to go to a 39.5 Irok because I have seen how they perform on the rocks, and It is my opinion that they do better than an MTR or Crawler and have stronger sidewalls.
Just my opinion 😀
I'm glad it's opinions! Anyone can verify facts. For example, the number of Rock crawling competitions won with each brand of tire.
It took Nitto 2 seasons to win their first major RC event on the Terra Grappler.

X2 to infinity!
Oh, and they have won more RC championships than all other brands of tires combined. So, would that make them the best? Is there another measure this thread is looking for? Wait! They are only a 39.5 and not a 38! Dang!
Well, back to our regularly scheduled programming...

the Irok's are a good tire. Good sidewall and I had great luck with them in the 39.5x13.5x16 variety. One thing to note is that Irok's are really light for their size which helps in the non-axle breaking department. Best tire I have ever had in the snow.
I ran the 38x12.5x16.5 TSL's and they were a good tire as well. One thing of note is that the 16.5 version of this tire is significantly taller then the other rim sizes for some reason.
I am currently running 38.5x14.5x16 non-sticky Creepy Crawlers. For a while I was ready to put em in a dumpster, but as they are breaking in they are just getting better and better so..... Verdict is still out.

Who and what tire wins rock crawling is still not factual data. BF Goodrich is a billion dollar company and they can sponsor the majority of all competition drivers. The driver of a comp rig does not decide what tire he will run. The decision is made by the largest money and endorsement sponsor. You can take any item, and if you have the money to flood the market and put ads in magazines and on billboards, you can convince anyone it's the best. I am not saying that the Krawler is not a good tire; I am stating that just because a comp rig won with it doesn't make it the best. I am sure that if Interco, Maxxis, Terra, etc could spend the money BF Goodrich does, you would see just as many titles.

Or, you can use old technology and be the lowest price product in that size. That will help you get market share too!

Throwing Sticky compounds into the mix will pretty much blow out any tire you and I can buy off the shelf anyway. I've heard awesome things about sticky BFG's, sticky Creepy Crawlers, sticky X-Terrains and sticky TrXus MT's. This is killing me ..... Rob's right though about BFG, you have enough money as a corporation and throw enough sponsorship at competitors and you will undoubtedly have the top winning tire in a series. Shoot, just because they run Goodyears, Firestones, etc. for track racing because a particular race governing body requires them doesn't make them the best either. Hell I've heard of people grooving the hell out of Boggers and TSL's and getting great traction. Ultimately, go with a tire you want - not because someone tells you it's what they would run. Base the desicion off of facts, what YOUR wallet allows and the terrain you want to wheel on.
Hell, I imagine people weren't all that impressed with SX's either but the sidewalls are tough as hell so pick your poison! FYI, they've got a 38" 😀

Didn't the NASCAR drivers just go public complaining about Goodyear's tire sucking (as in bad thing in this case) - and asking to head back to Firestone? I recall several drivers complaing - and may have even been fined by NASCAR!
