You guys are forgetting that I stake my safety hand held flashlights at work. Cheap doesn't cut it in my line of work!!! As for the head lamp, I some times walk for a mile or two in pitch black and then through a swamp to get where I am duck hunting. I need something bright so I can see out there. Cheap is OK around camp so you can find the bathroom but not when you need it to actually see where you are going in the dark for long distances. Compact, long battery life, and water proof are important too...I have used cheap head lamps before and I can't see 20 feet out in front of me 😯

In your job I fully understand the benefits of a quality (and solid) flashlight.
I personally don't care about cheap flashlights either. I've probably wasted two or three times the money on crappy lights that I could have spent on one or two good lights. I have two nice headlights however, one cost me about $70 and seems to work very well.

[quote="RobD"]Which one do you have? The is one for 139 or the one with the extra battery pack attached to the back of the head strap for 189. How long does your light last on a set of batteries.
I have the ARGO HP. I dont know how long it will last on high because I only use high for brief periods. The longest I have left it on low was overnite by mistake and it was still on. I think the candle power forum might have run times. The lower setting usually provides more light than the cheeper ones on high. If someone is walking out with me they usually just turn theirs off. I still carry a surefire and extra batteries in my pack just in case. This one does not have an external battery pack. On high it is about as bright as the std surefire 2 cell and is a beam pattern.
