Did some general searching on "borrowing muscles", "loan muscles", "muscles for loan", etc.
My results came up with banks, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and this.
I have very little background in this wrenching of vehicles. Have done just enough to get by with certain jobs on my own and friends. (e.g., 4x2 p/u clutch, shocks, motorcycle carb). I've always been lookin' forward to

with the offroad truck.
The premise for this little tangent is that I can't get the lower ball joint out on passenger side. Gonna work the driver side.
Maybe some of you have had these kinds of needs in the past, or maybe not since you've all been doing this awhile.

Being around here for the previous week or so didn't seem apropos to make such a formal request. In the future, I'm hope I can.
In the meantime, yes some work friends will come by later today to lend some.
Was trying to lighten up my own frustrated attitude b/c the thing won't budge. At least both upper BJs are out and the lower ones remain stubborn. Gonna clean and prep other stuff.

Ball Joint removal/installation kits for 4 wheel drives are different than for 2 wheel drives. They have deeper spacers and beveled sockets to account for weird angles on the knuckles. I have the 4 wheel drive tool kit if anyone needs to borrow it. But I'll be out of town this weekend.

It's not a tool problem per say, it's a muscle problem for me specifically. I've got the right tool set, albeit a cheaper Harbor Freight one (feel free to heckle), but this effort required more umpf. 😛
I enlisted my 2-ton BIL combined with a torch, PB, double hammer whack attack, torch, tighten, etc. With his extra poundage, it finally popped on the driver side. Went to the passenger side to go through the same magical steps. Crikey, the clamp cried uncle!! Splayed a bit and then used a piece of scrap metal to offset that.
So now all BJs are out. I'm much happier as this was the point I wanted to be last night. Meh...plans are meant to be flexible. I'm hoping the splay is manageable to press the new ones in, otherwise I'll just run to Azone and pick up the loaner. Exactly the same kit....but clamp is expected to be a much better steel.
RockinCrawler, thanks for the offer. I'm not accepting, nor declining. Will see where I am after today to determine. Much appreciated. Couple work friends coming over in a couple hours. Hoping their "freshness" will knock out a lot. Again...that is the plan. I have for them too.
Cheers

(Missed your post) Good to know you have a set. Thank you.

The substitute muscle came and we got the BJs in. Had to pick up the loaner press from A-zone. Both knuckles are on as well. I'm anticipating smoother install now. What kind of tool actually? Would it work better for the ujoints by any chance? That is my next step w/ that darn press.

I was thinking of a homemade press with two long bolts and two thick steel plates. I've got a milling machine and lathe over here, along with all the other stuff.

Posting late since I've just got everything wrapped up. About 70% of what I wanted, but hey I'm satisfied. Thanks again for the offering of actual tool making. I seriously considered it when doing the ujoints. Darn press set was too big to use on it. So I caved and got them done at Tire Pros, which saved time and spousal irk!! lol
Two things I didn't get to were track bar and stabilizers.
This was probably very boring to the likes of this group, but I learned alot, enjoyed myself, and feel better about the rig. Both ujoints were completely dry except one trunion. Needle bearing partially intact on a couple cups. Was only a matter of time. Wheel hubs still spun ok, but the seals showed visible breakdown.
So when is the NBA lockout going to end?!?!?!?!
