The girls and I decided to make this trip. The Cantina was lots of fun with friendly folks and really nice rigs. The tacos were fantastic, despite a whole lot of annoying yellowjackets. One lady unfortunately got stung and had a bad allergic reaction such that she had to be helicoptered out.
I didn't attempt any of the actual Rubicon in my Suburban. We stayed at the local Loon Lake Campground. It was very nice, despite the fact that my next door neighbor's decided to blare Snoop Dogg several hours. I will never understand why people want to go to a beautiful natural place to blast obnoxious music. Their kids must have found the lyrics to be quite educational.
Our sleeping accommodations were quite luxurious, as you can see below. I have to say I didn't expect it to be 34 degrees at night. But we survived it and will be back.

Kathy and I went out there on Saturday. I dropped her off at Stumpy Meadows and she rode her bike to Loon Lake (actually three miles short of the lake due to her third flat tire). I got to officially meet Greg, Jeff and Forrest of http://www.highsierra4x4.com/ fame! Their booth is the one with the orange trim. The long line is for the tacos.

Made it sunday just after noon for tacos from RTF and a margarita from the Jeepers Jamboree people. Highsierra4x4 tent was long gone and 4 wheel parts was packing up. Didnt win anything in the raffle but Jeff did win some JK shocks, guess it is time for him to get a JK.
I must have just missed you Kris. I was there Sunday for a few hours, just long enough to see Greg, Jeff and Forrest leaving! I did however enjoy some tacos and nachos. Despite buying $40 in raffle tix I also did not win anything but it was a nice day up there

Buck,
I am real sorry Paula and I could not make the Cantina for the Con. We had already made plans long ago to go to San Luis Obispo to visit our daughter. Looks like you and the girls had a great time! The yellow jackets were really bad this year up in Rubicon Springs as well. I am sorry to hear about the lady getting stung.
