Do you know where it froze? Was it your holding tank or was it in your exposed pipe line? You could build a little shed to cover your holding tank or you could wrap it with electric heat tape on nights where it is going to freeze.

Turns out mine froze too. 🙁 Must be somewhere between the storage tank and pressure tank because I got a shower. I went home at lunch, poured boiling water on them and still nothing. Hoping mother nature helps out and I'm headed home early to see what else I can do.

How far are your water lines buried? Mine are 4 feet under ground from my wellhead to my holding tank that is under my house (about 50 feet of pipe buried). I have about 18 inches of exposed pipe out of my wellhead to where it goes under ground and another 36 inches where it comes out of the ground at the house and then through the wall to the holding tank. I have the pipe wrapped with insulation tape then insulation padding around that then wrapped with insulation tape again. Mine have never frozen.

Mine froze because I'm an idiot. Everything was wrapped with heat tape. Unfortunately, I fooled the sensor on the heat tape by putting a light too close to it so it never turned on. Of course, if I don't turn on the light, the 1/4 line to the pressure sensor freezes. Needless to say I've got some work ahead of me, but I have water for now.

I took the garbage out tonight and heard water running like crazy. My neighbor's place is just a "summer cabin". I went down to check it out and it turns out they broke at least three pipes. One under the deck hosing down the driveway, one that feeds the water heater (which is outside) which may have been spraying water outside, and one at the well head. The one at well head broke upstream of the shutoff. The well has been running for days. I had to turn the power off at their house to get it to stop. I can't believe they didn't drain the system for the winter. 🙄
