Well it sounds like the subject says. We went to South Lake Tahoe for the 4th for a few days of R&R with some family from Texas. I mentioned to my father-in-law we could maybe swing by the Rubicon on the way to SLT. He was super excited and that turned into both Jeeps and 6 people all coming along for a quick in and out. We made it to Loon by 10:30 on the 3rd and to my surprise there was nobody there. It was the barest I have ever seen the staging area. I assumed we would surely encounter traffic and therefore in Loon and out Wentworth would be all we could hope for. Boy were we wrong. We made it to Buck by 1:00 and had lunch. Then the group decided we might as well go all the way through vs. turn around and come out on Ice House. We made it to Cadillac Hill by 5:00. ( spent an hour at Buck Island eating and swimming). Just when we thought our trip was over there was a flash thunderstorm that dumped a ton on Hail on us. Neither Jeep had windows or full tops, we all go soaked and pinged to death. It was full on raining when we reached the staging area to air up. Needless to say we all got soaked and had to pull drain plugs when we go to the hotel. But everyone had a great time and all were super happy with the experience.
Now for the damage: Just when I thought we made it off the trail untouched I hear a clanging coming from the Black Jeep. I drove it down 89 to SLT and it drove just fine, but it has a clanging that I have deducted is coming from either the rear axle or the transfer case. Again it is driving just fine, shifts from 2h - 4h- 4L but I have a clanging sound that gets louder and more frequent the faster I go. I'm hoping to thrown it on someone's lift tomorrow (5TH) and diagnose what is going on. Nothing is leaking, no dash lights, and drives great. Just have a clanging that seems to go with the rotation of the tires.
Any suggestions for things to check let me know Huck.

Hopefully nothing serious is wrong. You could quickly pull your rear diff cover to see if anything obvious appears like metal in the bottom of your axle, or missing teeth. Weather is funny when it's super hot in Sacto. When we've been hailed on during runs, we just looked for tree cover and parked to wait it out.
