I'm looking for ideas for a family vacation. We are looking for something fairly local that the kids will enjoy. Some of the ideas we've come up with are; Marine World (Six Flags), San Francisco, Santa Cruz, and Virginia City (we'll miss the club trip). Is there any place that you'd recomend?

I used to wheel a lot. . .

How about a non-4x4 camping trip somewhere like Union Valley?

Lake Tahoe? There are lot's of things to do besides gamble.

Not a bad idea...I'd hate it but the kids would like it.

I like the houseboat idea! Maybe a club run?

What about the Monterey Bay Aquarium? I think you guys went to the Redwoods last year right? You could go to Greenville or Quincy and look at cows...or...better yet, the Taylorsville Rodeo! Just like old times! 😀

The Virginia City trip includes Reno/Tahoe.

It would give you an excuse to buy a new speedo!

We did the aquarium a couple of years ago. That was really cool and the kids liked it a lot.

Taylorsville rodeo is out. I'd see friends there, they'd talk me into roping, and then our little vacation would cost us thousands of dollars when I came home and bought horses, trailers, and built a new saddle. Believe me, I've thought about it, but that would mean selling the Jeep 👿

A Giants game in San Fran could be a lot of fun for the kids. Alcatraz may help with any dicipline problems. 😀

Alcatraz is a blast. Been there twice. You can even stay the night now.

That sounds like a good idea. Might have to include that if we do the San Fran trip.

I have a friend that spent the night on Alcatraz. Said it was a blast. You kind of end up with the run of the place when the ferry leaves.
