OfflineLooking to change fender flares. Due to 90% of time being on road (and not wanting to deal with constant tickets) I am looking to stay full width flares, especially once I have 35x12.5 tires. Opinions on metal vs plastic for that? And opinions on turn signals/corner markers (stock vs aftermarket).
Edit: looking at this now after damaging the passage front factory SportS flare on a steel post in a tight parking garage (no spotter).

You are very unlikely to get a ticket if your tires are an inch or two wider than your fender flares. Take a look at how many Jeeps on the road have tires that extend beyond the flares. I'm sure you will get some good brand recommendations from the JK owners in our club but you might want to reconsider going full width. I'm a fan of metal over plastic.

OfflineI think it depends on your tire size, if you are going to lift, and how hard you are going to wheel.
-There are some companies that sell small extensions for the factory flares.
-You can find some rubicon hard rock edition factory flares with factory extensions.
-There are some aftermarket plastic flares like the quadratech baja HD that are slightly wider and Rubicon height (i have them on my rig now, take a look at the next meeting/run)
-Most metalcloak and similar metal units aren't any wider to maintain trail clearance (meant for rock crawling where you want to avoid rock to fender contact)
-DV8 sells some silly wide flares if you are getting constant tickets and need full tire coverage (metal but dv8 uses some very cheap powdercoat so expect them to fade in a year or two)

OfflineI appreciate the information guys. I am ordering a 2-inch lift to go with 35x12.5 tires (I have new rims that have 4 1/2" backspace compared to the factory 6-inch, staying with a 17in diameter). I don't see myself ever going hardcore wheeling (Rubicon, Barrett Lake, and Fordyce), as the vehicle is also a daily, but would be nice to be able to run a club "moderate" trail (Strawberry, Deer Valley).
I also have LEO in the family that I would not be surprised if they reported me to their friends if I don't have full tire coverage.

2" lift and 35s will work fine with factory sport fenders. If you upgrade to higher clearance Rubicon or aftermarket fenders then you can fit 37s and adjust bumpstops for more flex if your control arms allow it.
