If you really don't like the idea of chopping a rattlesnakes head off with a shovel or something...what would you shoot it with?

Snake shot. You can buy snake shot for most popular sized rounds. Just don't make a habbit of shooting it out of your gun because it will mess up your barrel. A shotgun would work well too.

I used to wheel a lot. . .

birdshot in a cheap 22 target pistol

I'm a fair shot with a handgun but It took me 3 or 4 shots at 15 feet with standard ball rounds embarassed

a long handled sharp shovel works best. having boots on is a good idea too.

If it becomes frequent, maybe a .410 shotgun.

Snake shot is worthless. I have shot many snakes with it and it didn't kill them. Maybe if you were 2 feet from it when you fired..Pistol snake shot spreads way to fast..The .410 would be far more effective. If you are a good shot, use a pistol round like a 9mm or 40.

That's because you're a big baby and you jump 20 feet while you're trying to shoot. Rob hates rattle snakes. The last time we went fishing at the Yuba River, Rob ran accross a rattle snake. He jumped 50 feet and started crying, "I hate this place." lol

Then maybe a 12 gauge with buck shot?

Hypothetically, I've heard a 12 gauge with pheasant shot works. wink It gets dog in the neighborhood excited though.

If you want something quieter, maybe one of these would work.

Shotgun or a shovel. I'm 3 for 3 with my shovel - at my house, including one in my garage...

I'm glad you aren't using a shotgun at your house.

I know what Ash would use. lol

Alright you Primitive Screwheads, listen up! You see this? This... is my boomstick! The twelve-gauge double-barreled Remington. S-Mart's top of the line. You can find this in the sporting goods department. That's right, this sweet baby was made in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Retails for about a hundred and nine, ninety five. It's got a walnut stock, cobalt blue steel, and a hair trigger. That's right. Shop smart. Shop S-Mart. You got that?
