Offline I used Quickpwn a while back to jailbreak my phone. It worked fine but I've upgraded the os through Itunes so it set everything back. I haven't had the desire to jailbreak again so I can't comment on Black Rain.

There's a small risk of the jailbreak process not working and "bricking" your phone, making it as useful as a brick. I didn't have any trouble and most don't, but the risk is there. The other standard downfall is it voids your warranty.

Offline I have had mine jail broken since I have owned it. I used qwkpwn and now use Black rain. I have never had any issues with either application. The only application that I really use is PDAnet which allows me to use my phone as a wireless modem for my laptop.
