we managed to get the whole front end of the Jeep torn apart today. I have to replace my whole drag link (including TREs), get my pitman arm and steering arm reamed, and replace front brake calipers. I'm also refabbing my track bar. Right now, it's sitting in peices at Rob's house. We'll finish it tomorrow night (fingers crossed).

Not entirely sure. The right one was froze up and dragging.
So far;
replace both brakes (seized)
replace pitman arm (bent)
replace drag link (bent)
replace TREs (blown and bent)
replace shocks (worn)
tightened RE joints (loose)
lengthened control arm (bent)
rebuild track bar (bushing was shot)
chisel out the busted hub (broke)
replace with new hub
recenter front axle.
re-align toe-in to spec.
...and that's just the front of the Jeep, next month we can tackle the rear

What is Rob's hourly rate? I need someone to put my new u-bolts on for me. 😀

Bad news on John's Jeep, it looks like his front axle tube is bent. My suggestion John is that you don't wheel your rig until you figure out what you are going to do. If it is infact bent, you are going to wear out your air locker due to the fact your axle shafts are not going into it straight like they should.(Don't end up costing yourself more money than it is already going to be) This is most likely the reason your axle seal went out earlier this year.
We can strip it down and take it to WFO and see if it is straight or bent and what your options are. You might only have to re-tube one side depending on where the bend is.
I am willing to bet big on where you bent it. Winch hill 3 trying to make it through the squeeze. You get yourself wedged in there pretty good and that is a ton of pressure being put on your tires and axle...
Just remember, better to be down a short time that a long time!!!!

5 plus years of extreme wheeling and zero maintenance has taken its toll on Johns rig. I have pretty much rebuilt all of his steering components, built him a new trackbar with heims on both ends, centered his front axle, got both the front control arms back to the same length, got the rears back to the same length, did maintenance on the front control arm joints. Looks as if his death wobble problem is now gone!!!
His Jeep is still pulling to the right. Most likely cause is a bent spindle (checked and not bent) bent C, his camber is about -10 degrees on the driver side. It should be 0 like the passenger side, we still need to check that, or it is a bent tube....Other causes could be shot bearings; both the front inner and outer bearings are toast. Rear bearings could be shot (making a clicking sound back there)
Next we will replace all the bearings and races front and rear and see if that cures the pulling problem, fix his broken passenger side upper rear control arm. Service all the rear control arm joints, and replace all the rubber bushings back there..
I am hoping it's just the bearings causing the pulling problem, if not hoping the C because, because it can be cut off and replaced for a reasonable cost. To pull and press a new tube will cost him about 6 to $800 🙁

Drove it home tonight. Big difference. The front end is rock solid. Still pulls to the right though. Tomorrow I need to get a broken control arm bolt removed, replace the other broken hub, re-align the steering wheel, and put the newly balanced tire back on.
Then, I have to replace all the axle bearings, service all the rear control arms, and clean out my diffs. I'm suprised this Jeep held together with as many things that was wrong with it. Just remember, never wash your Jeep, it won't fall apart

I just spent the last four hours working on my Jeep. I got all the beadlocks torqued, the new tire put on, re-aligned the front axle, and re-centered the steering wheel. I took it for a test drive and it is finally tracking straight. This is the best my Jeep has driven in YEARS!!! Now I have to repair one control arm and put in a new hub.
This winter I am going to drain and refill all the fluids, change all the bearings, service the rear control arms, and out-board my rear shocks.
