Just wanted to post on the forums and reiterate what I mentioned at the last meeting.
MyOffRoadRadio.com is up and operational. The website consists of some useful features, (and will be adding more as time goes on).
- Online Ham Radio Technician License Class (15% of the registration fee can go towards one of M.O.R.R.'s partners)
- OHV Trail Maps
- Hiking Trail Maps (I have a database of 1100 waterfall hikes that I am working on uploading)
- Radio Reviews (in the works)
- GPS Locator Map Apps Reviews (in the works)
- Community Forum Boards
- Retail Shop (will have radio accessories (handheld antennae, mag mount antennae, programming cables), recovery and safety gear (Straps, snatch blocks, shackles, useful first aid kits), and a tire inflation/deflation manifold system that I have created) (Still working on suppliers and adding things on there)
- And one of my favorites... over the internet radio programming. If you have a ham radio, I have worked out how to get it programmed with you at your house, and me at the office. With the programming, I also include a reference booklet so you know which memory, in your radio, all of the repeaters are, and where, geographically they are.
This is mainly a hobby for me. Something I do for fun (I am crazy, I know). So I just need to make sure I cover the overhead costs of the server and web hosting, some of the software I have purchased, and other future additions. So, there are a few things that I am doing for the clubs and organizations that I am involved with...
- I have setup a permanent coupon code for Gold Hills Posse Members. If you want to take the class, it will get you 30% off of the ham radio class. Enter 'POSSE4X4' at the checkout screen.
- If you want a radio programmed, just let me know before a meeting, and bring your radio to the meeting and 5$. I will program up your radio at the meeting and bring a reference booklet for you. The 5$ is just to help cover my costs on the software/cables/paper/printer ink/etc.
The class is set to go live tomorrow, but it is technically live today. And the POSSE4X4 code for the class is active as of right now, so if anyone wanted to get started, it is all there ready to go!
I have to give a huge thank you to this club for being one of my inspirations to follow through with this project and actually get it up and going. I have been wanting to delve into this over the past 1-2 years, but never got started down the road. Seeing your guys' interest in the idea lit a fire under my ass and got things rolling. So, Thank You! Hopefully I can get a trail run in with the club soon! lol I am trying to make the Barrett Lake run happen... It is 50/50 as of right now.
Let me know if you have any questions or comments!
