Any tree experts in the group???
My big oak tree in the front yard is weeping sap. It forms in drops on the ground. I did some research and found something called slime flux. It's caused by trauma such as extreme hot weather. But, that is not the problem...
The sap attracts bees 😯 There are thousands of bees in my tree. If you stand under it, it sounds like a loud electrical buzz. And, it's getting worse every day. It's starting to freak me out...
I used to wheel a lot. . .

Whatever it is, I want the bees gone and I don't want to loose the tree.
Go away bees 👿
It's aphids. We've had that with our oak trees for years. We started getting them treated yearly in January to prevent it and it's worked great. Clark Pest control or any other pest service should be able to do it. You can also do it yourself using something by Bayer. I'm going to try it this year.
Here's a topic on myfolsom.com where they talk about the issue.

This stuff you don't spray the tree, you spray the ground within the dripline of the tree. Then the tree soaks it up through the roots. And you have to do it before the tree start budding out. The pest control companies, rather than spraying the ground, inject the stuff into the ground.

light a fire under the tree and smoke out all the problems - bees, ants and aphids. maybe enough smoke will kill the aphids and solve the problem!
otherwise, rent a lift all and get r done!
fire and shotguns? - My kind of thread!

Try a shotgun. I've never tried it on bees, but it works with most tree problems. It's especially effective on mistletoe. 😈 Please report back when you're done. 😀
You are really into this shotgun thing lately. The mountains are changing you 😀

I wanted to see if John was country enough to give it a go. 😀
Plus, I'm just getting back to my roots. Better watch out or I'm going to start having flash backs to high school and try and get revenge for the royal whipping that Quincy used to put on us in every sport that we played them in. 😈

Update: I just talked with my pest control guy. He recomended the tree injections, that would kill the aphids NOW, and then the bees would leave. Spraying wouldn't do much for it right NOW. So, I might do the injection this time and then spray the Bayer stuff in the Spring.

That's good to know. I thought the treatment could only be done before the trees started to get their leaves.
sounds interesting.
My Crepe Mrytles, and the tree in the front ( forget what it is) is aphid infested.
