We came home from watching Star Trek (good movie by the way) and Ben comes up to me and says "Isn't the bathroom a funny place for a snake?" 😯

Sure enough, I walked in there and found a snake. At first I thought it was one of there rubber ones, until it moved 😯 Kinda freaked me out at first...

As far as I can tell, it's a Sharptail...Here's a picture of it after I put it in a bucket to study it...plus it calmed Elena down a little lol

Welcome to the country. 😀 Any idea how he got in there?

You sure it wasn't one of these?

we had one in our office. We think it came under the front door.

It is a sharptail. They eat slugs and snails. They are good swimmers too. I pulled one out of the pool a couple of years ago.

Closed Mondays.

Not quite in our bathroom, but I found this in our front yard this afternoon. I'm guessing Yellow-bellied Racer. I tried to relocate it so the cats didn't make him a snack, but he was quite a bit faster than I was.

FYI...This is a great site for identifying CA snakes, frogs, lizards, turtles, salamanders: http://www.californiaherps.com/

Snakes are cool until they rattle at you. Suprising how fast they can be.

Kelly and I were just talking about it. It seemed like the thing just vanished. I think he must have climbed a tree. 😯 The internet says they're good climbers. I was wandering around trying to figure out what happened to him and how he got away so quick and he was probably two branches up laughing at me. lol

Not as spooky as the other animal we saw this weekend. We were up near Lassen Park and driving through a section of road with cut slopes on both sides. I caught something moving out of the corner of my eye and HUGE bear came down the slope, crossed the road right in front of us, and ran up the other side. I had to slow down so I didn't hit it. It was crazy. I don't remember ever seeing one. Did I mention it was HUGE????

I see bears every night in Tahoe, sometimes we have to go into houses and chase them out. They break in and destroy the house looking for food. Last week, I had a 500 pound bear break into a car and the door closed behind him. He was trapped and talk about destroying the car trying to get out 😯 I took my shotgun while one of my deputies stood behind me to shoot it if it attacked me. I took the barrel of my gun and broke the side window to let the bear out. Why didn't I just open the door? The owners keys were inside the car and the bear locked all the doors lol Once the window was broke out, the bear jumped out, made about a 5 foot charge toward me, I shot if with a couple rubber bullets, and he turned and beat feet 😯 I have close encounters with bears like this weekly!!!
