My HP laptop died on me yesterday after only 2 years. I am done with windows for good!!!! I went out and bought a Mac Book Pro with a 15 inch monitor. First time I have ever spent 2 grand on a computer. I am hoping I made a good choice!!!! I am writing on it right now. This is my first time using a Mac and it is a bit different. Still trying to figure it out!!!!!

My mom's HP laptop died after about two years too. I found there was a recall on several HP models because the onboard video card got too hot and burned up. Unfortunately they would only do the repair if the machine was still in the warranty period. So now I've got a dead HP laptop sitting under my desk for spare parts.

Several people at work have Apples and really like them. It's almost like a cult. Don't be fooled though, Apples break down too. My supervisor has had to take his in a few times now. The good thing is customer service at the Apple stores seems to be great.

I wanted to get an Apple but needed two computers and I couldn't pass up a sale on some Dell/Win7 laptops I found at Staples a couple months ago. I may try picking up a spare hard drive and turning my new laptop into a Hackbook.

How's the learning curve with all the new Apple software?

I am going to have to find someone at work today to give me a run down on the software and operation. It seems pretty easy, but being a long time windows user, navigating around the system is pretty foreign 😀

Its the same, just a different name and location for everything. Some websites wont work with Macs, but you probably have fewer viruses. With only 5% Macs in the world, the hackers obviously attack the big boys.

I just love Apples success. Did you know that Intel had an MP3 player before Apple, search eBay for it. Intel tells the world that its an innovative growth company, but its really a world class manufacturer. Did you know that Apple has twice the market cap as Intel? Yea, the corporation is worth double. Ok, OK, I remember the Newton, but Jobs wasn't there at the time. Apple has a great corporate culture for innovation. And that goes for Google too, but that's another rant.

I got a run down from a co-worker and have been using the video tutorials at Apple. So far I am sold on the Mac.. Very user friendly once you understand it. Unbelievable graphics too!!! Huge difference on how my photos look on the Mac compared to my PC.

I think you made a great decision. I switched over about 5 yrs ago and am on my second Mac. My first was a 12 inch powerbook which I still use on the couch and around the house, ony problem I ever had was with the keyboard and they replaced it. My new iMac is awesome and works great.

I remember it took me about 2 months to figure out where everything was and adjust, once the transition period was over I was sold on macs for good. I think you'll be fine.
