If you had purchased $1,000 of shares in Delta Airlines one year ago,
you will have $49.00 today.

If you had purchased $1,000 of shares in AIG one year ago, you will have
$33.00 today.

If you had purchased $1,000 of shares in Lehman Brothers one year ago,
you will have $0.00 today.

But, if you ha d purchased $1,000 worth of beer one year ago, drank all
the beer, then turned in the aluminum cans for recycling refund, you
will have received a $214.00.

Based on the above, the best current investment plan is to drink heavily
& recycle. It is called the 401-Keg plan.

A recent study found that the average American walks about 900 miles a
year. Another study found that Americans drink, on average, 22 gallons
of alcohol a year. That means that, on average, Americans get about 41
miles to the gallon!

Makes you proud to be an American!

Most of that stuff starts as tap water anyway. 🙄 Just out of curiousity, what part of it is she worried about?

I use to recycle my own cans, but I got lazy. I'd end up with more bags of cans than I could carry to the recycle center. When the city started their curbside recycling I got even lazier.

I don't think she trusts the water quality.

Does she know that showering in it exposes her skin and lungs? There have been studies that link increased cancer risk to chlorinated showers and swimming pools. 😯

The world will end before the water kills you. 😀 My non chlorinated well water ends up with so much copper in it, it turns my shower blue. Oh well.

The odds are roughly:

300 million to 1if you play.
300 million to none if you don't play.

Statistically my odds are about the same, so I play by not playing.

Are you kidding?!?!?!? You can't win if you don't play 🙄

I guess that explains why I haven't won in the past several years. I use to buy a ticket or two now and then, but haven't for a long time.

I've thrown a buck or two into the pools here at work but not on any sort of regular basis. Either the pools are rigged or I'm wise for not playing. They never post the numbers that get picked and they never win even a buck or two. I suspect the "winnings" and possibly the ticket money are finding their way into somebody's pocket. 🙄

Weird board note...between the time I hit the post reply button and actually posted my reply Fred posted. The board warned me that I might want to review my post in light of his new info and didn't post until I confirmed that it was still ok. Neat feature.
