Tree Falling Expertise?

Anybody got some delicate tree falling expertise? In the last round of rain we had a pretty big (30" or so at the base) oak fall across our road. It's hung up in a couple of trees on the other side of the road so you can drive under it, but it needs to come down. I think it's a bit beyond my skill level to bring down. The only neighbor that we have that seems to be worth anything and I are trying to figure out a plan. I'd really rather not wait for it to come down the rest of the way since it will block the road and rarely does that happen at an ideal time. Anybody have any expertise or am I stuck calling a pro to put it on the ground? I think I have enough saw to cut it if that helps.

Sounds like a work party at the Benders. I'm no expert, but will gladly lend a hand. I would make the first cut at shoulder level and run.

I think Bill and Hytenor can be trusted.

I've got the saw to get the job done, but I have no skill.

Those were the two guys I was thinking of too, Bill and Chris.
I am also happy to lend a hand with the grunt work.

I used to wheel a lot. . .

I don't think grunt work will be a problem. The vultures will arrive when they see oak headed to the ground and it will all mysteriously disappear. lol I forgot to mention that the way the road is cut almost all of the cutting would be above head level. It's going to be a real PITA. 😀

Sounds dangerous, let it fall and have the saw ready.

I was actually considering seeing if we could hook it to a truck or two and drag it out of the trees. Maybe Bob could help with the rigging. lol

Problem solved. Came home today and the guy up the road was taking care of it. I missed all the excitement. 🙁
