Has anyone here ever been to, Punta Cana in the Caribbean, or Barbados (Jamaica)? I am looking at taking Sue there in September for a couple weeks for our 20th anniversary. Other options are Rio de Janeiro or Costa Rica..Looking for feed back or opinions from any one who has been to any of these locations..

I can vacation in the US when ever I want, I want some place new. Been to Mexico, Panama, Hawaii, Alaska, and most every other US state, I want some place new and warm where I can sit on the beach with a beer and forget about everything home!!!
If I go to Montana, it will be to kill Elk, Mule Deer, and ducks

I went to Costa Rica after I graduated from High School and really liked it. My parents went there a few years back and had a good time as well, but they were doing some sort of yoga thing. My Grandpa used to live in San Jose. Nothing like a gringo with a railroad pension. We rented a car (suzuki samurai 8) ) and pretty much toured the entire country while I was down there. The only time I was nervous was when we got closer to the south (Panama/Colombia). They guarded that border pretty heavily. Armed guards going through the car.... Other than that I had a good time. My Grandpa's house keeper took me to some back lot in the middle of nowhere to a cock fight. I didn't care for San Jose much. Just another big city with tons of beggers, but, overall, it was good times for an 18 year old. 😀 That was a while ago though so I'm not sure how it is now days.
My parents recommend sticking to the more established tours, but they're a bit conservative.

Ya, I guess that's all good if you like beaches. I'm more into the mountains, trees, streams and lakes myself. I'd rather sip a cup of coffe, sitting on the front porch of a mountain cabin, watching the deer graze in the meadow. I'm not so much a fan of beers on the beach, watching 300 lb men and women cruize by in their European cut bathing suits.
Some people like the beaches, others like the mountains, some even prefer the desert, and still others like the big metropolitan cities. Different strokes for different folks...it's all good.
I used to wheel a lot. . .

Egypt sounds like fun, but like some other world spots right now, I don't think it's very tourist friendly with everything going on in that part of the world!!

I knew a couple that went to St John and stayed in a campground on the ocean that had tents/cots. But my best vacation was the Egyptian Nile Cruise.

I agree that we all have different tastes for vacation. You know I love the outdoors, but I spend so much time in the outdoors with all the animals and birds I hunt plus wheeling.. To me vacation is getting away from the city and outdoors to relax in the sun with a cold beer

One of the folks from work went to Egypt last year. She made it sound really run down and dirty. It would be a tough sell to get me there now.

You think Egypt is an adventure, you should try Disneyland on spring break with a three year old and a one year old. It is 10:41 pm and I am in a hotel in Anaheim. A trip to the Nile sounds like a cake walk. Oh and tomorrow is magic morning when we GET to enter an hour early. Better get to bed 6:00 comes ealy. My vacation vote is st. Martin.

Are you in Disneyland now? We're here too! The STATES of Colorado and Oregon both have spring break this week. Each entire State is on vacation. Maybe we can meet up. Give us a call!
The rain is making some rides walk on however. They let Garett and me stay on grizzly falls last night.
Rob, this is our 20th anniversary trip. We went on a Disneyworld/Bahamas combo trip for our honeymoon. That was a great vacation.

I second St. John in the Caribbean. A friend of mine got married there a while back and we spent a week in a beach house. Beautiful island and the snorkling is incredible. You also have decent access to many of the other islands if you go on a chartered boat tour. Plus, you're still on the US dollar.
