Why do you think the forum got so silly?

My personal opinion (could be wrong(known to happen)):

We used to wheel a lot (and I mean a lot) more than we have this year. There used to be runs going on almost every weekend. That gave us a lot to talk about.

Also, we used to talk about our buildups. Now, everybody has their rigs built pretty much the way they want them. Once again, less to talk about now.

I think we were just used to the pace of the forum and now we don't know what to do with all the free web space lol

I used to wheel a lot. . .

I agree the lack of build-ups and trips is probably the reason.

I've got a few things I'd like to do to the Jeep but don't have the funds at the moment to back it up so there's not really much to talk about. 🙁

And I've got to figure out how to get in more runs. We're about to start interviewing for a new person on my team so hopefully I won't be on-call quite so often.

Somebody needs to step up and make some major modifications and talk about it. 😀

Anybody know anything about sheet metal type work? A lot of the carpet/cardboard/plastic that makes up the inside of the 4Runner is starting to come loose. I was thinking about pulling it off and making a bunch of the inside out of sheet metal (or something) then putting some sort of bedliner over it. That would also give me a chance to pound out some of the character marks.

Maybe my wife will let loose of the purse strings so I can do some mods. I'll tell her it's for the good of the club.

Sorry Keane, I don't know anybody that's good with sheet metal. Maybe we could just fiberglass it all.

As soon as John and I do our next Little Sluice run and one more Fordyce run for speed, My Jeep will be going down for some major modifications.. I am building a custom suspension, double triangulated in the rear, and a 3 link mid arm in the front. I am getting rid of my RE skid plate and going to a flat belly pan. I will have to modify my driver floor board because my Atlas will need to be about 2 inches higher than it is now. Building a front Dana 60, and by next summer, I hope to have my V8 swap done (Although I am not convinced I need one) I will have to evaluate how my Jeep drives on 40 inch tires with 5:13 gears and the stock motor.

I am building a tube chassis from scratch.

1 3/4 DOM
4 seater
110" to 112" wheelbase

reused parts
HP60
14bolt
SBC
700r4
atlas

I am hoping to have it done in a year or so....I am not in a hurry.

I'm only going to do the stuff that I know I need.

I want to stretch the rear a few inches. Not for wheelbase, but for a better departure angle. I'm tired of dragging my rear bumper over everything at the Hammers.

I want beadlocks because I'm tired of burping air or unbeading tires when I have to run low air pressure.

I also want new seats and harnesses just for safety reasons.

Lastly, I want a grill hoop incase I flop it over. I want to prtect my radiator.

That's all I really see the need for at this time. Anything else would just be "keep up with the jones'" kind of stuff and I don't have the extra income to waste on that stuff right now.

How old are you? John needs to do stuff fast these days. He is already old as dirt. If he waits any longer, he will be modifying his wheel chair lol

Oh ya, wheel chairs, I remember now.

Hurry up and learn to weld. I'll need a cage built for one of these:

This is just the stuff that I know I need within a year or 2.

That should be exempt from Route Designation. They specifically refer to wheeled motor vehicles but say nothing about tracks. We may all end up with these.

Anybody that uses wire is nuts (no pun intended). I think I'd use 1" rope just to be safe. 😀

I think that would still scare me in that particular situation. Plus, I'd be scared to get something caught in the spool 😯
