I need a new wireless router. My current one has got to be 7+ years old and seems to drop the signal about as much as it carries it. Any suggestions on brand? What am I looking for?

You might just want to reposition it or make the paper/aluminum foil antenna .

Dual N is the fastest available, but it has to be Dual N at both ends, router and pc.

Recently, I've been looking at streaming video boxes and most use the N routers.

I use one of the higher end Belkin N routers and haven't had any problems with it.

Thanks for the suggestion on the antenna, but mine is an old school B router that's within a few feet of the wii. I doubt it's a reception problem. Maybe interference from something else. Speed wise, it doesn't seem to have a problem streaming the movies, it just cuts out randomly. It's ancient technology in the computer world...time for an upgrade. 😀 I'll look into Belkin. Thanks!

At one point, I had three of them. Would you be interested in a free one or are you looking at something specific. I don't know what I have yet, because I need to go through some boxes.

That makes sense. I use a LInksys WRT54G and its been working for a zillion years.

No thanks, I ended up picking up a middle of the road Linksys (E2500). Looks like it's going to work out pretty well.
