I like a variety from mild to more extreme. But I don't care to do the most extreme stuff like Little Sluice or Hammers.
I really like over night camping trips and weekday trips but those tend to complicate the planning process for me. For camping trips, I have to find out if Teddi's going with me or not. If she does, then we have to figure out what to do with the dogs. Whether or not I can make weekday trips is dependent on other vacation plans and my vacation time balance.
So while I'd like to be able to take more various weekday overnight camping trips, I'm more likely to be able to make it on a weekend day trip.
I joined the Posse because . . .
Shortly after getting my Jeep I made friends with a few other new Jeepers. We frequently went out on runs for the next couple years but over time interests changed and people moved away. Still wanting to go four wheeling and knowing I shouldn't go out by myself I started looking for a club.
I first got involved with the Motherlode Rockcrawlers and after meeting the membership requirements joined their club. During the following year I found it difficult to make it to their meetings in Jackson and felt like I wasn't contributing much to the group nor getting much out of it.
I started looking around for more local clubs. I attended a couple meetings for the Capitol City Mountaingoats but at that time they were having a lot of internal conflict in their club. I didn't want to get in the middle of all that.
The next club I found was the Posse. After hanging out on the forums for a while and attending a couple meetings and making a couple runs I felt like it was a club with not too much formality and people just got along. It seemed like a good group to be a part of.

I started by buying a Jeep Wrangler. I'd had a couple of them before, I just love Jeeps. But, this time I bought it with the intention of building it to go wheeling. I'd recently got out of rodeo and I was looking for some kind of hobby that would be fun and get me outdoors. Something to go along with the fly fishing I was already in love with.
So I bought the Jeep and put 33s on it with a front locker and an oil pan skid. I was ready to hit the trail. I hit a few of the local (semi-legal) wheeling spots. But that wasn't enough. I wanted people to share the experience with and I wanted to learn how to wheel for real. So I started looking for a club.
I chose the Posse for two reasons. One, I liked the active, friendly forum. Two, Brian (the President) was very welcoming and friendly. After attending a meeting, I knew I'd gotten lucky and found a good fit.
I started my first run on the Triple Trail. We wheeled Strawberry and Deer Valley. I had a blast and I was hooked. Plus I made friends with a few of the members right away (Brad, Troy, and Dan (I miss Dan)).
From that point on I decided to learn as much as I could and get my Jeep built up to where it could handle any trail I decided to throw at it. I kept increasing the challenge level as my courage and skill grew.
For me, it's all about the challenge and friendship. The trails just get tougher and they need to keep getting tougher to keep up the challenge part. I still like a liesurely drive through the Strawberry just to hang out and enjoy the company, but, I need to keep pushing the envelope to keep it interesting.
This year I plan to successfully run the Little Sluice and tackle Wrecking Ball at the Hammers. I think that's about the limit of a street legal, stock wheel base TJ. Probably beyond the limits of it, but that's the challenge. After that ??? Horses are starting to call to me again
I used to wheel a lot. . .

What flips your skirt?
I'll make my answers short.
I look for good people in a 4WD run. I don't care where it's at or how dificult, I just like to wheel and hang out with good people.
I joined the Posse because.....um....there is good people and they wheel.
What flips my skirt? As I stated above, good people and wheeling, I also like to keep challenging myself and rig.

My favorite types of runs involve trips to the mall. I really like to load the 4Runner with tools, fill it up with $4.50 gas, head to the Sunrise Mall, and show off my extreme flex on a wicked curb. When I’m in the area, I like to get ice cream. Leatherby’s is by far my favorite.
I like a little bit of everything. I really hope to do more camping this year then I managed to do last year. Half the reason I have a 4x4 is to get away from the crowds so the Rubicon drives me nuts.
If I could figure out how to do Dusy without the second day it would be my favorite run by far. Getting to places like that is a big portion of why I wheel.
I’d also still like to get out to Moab.

What do you look for in a 4WD run?
I want good fishing and good friends.
Why did you join the Posse?
I joined because of the type of people that went on the Strawberry run Sunday. I joined because no matter the rig... small tires...no lockers...only a rear locker...no spare...no winch...WE ALL get to the same places because we are a family group that enjoys wheeling and friends to do it with.
What flips your skirt?
I think Fordyce will flip my skirt, I mean kilt.

Uhh, I thought Keane and John wanted to go to the mall...
Everybody knows you love the mall...it's just that you love the shopping part and not the wheeling part...you are no poser my friend
At least I have a deluxe poser jeep now! Black and chrome is an awsome poser combo! 8)
