I was at Josh's hous the other day, and I realized Josh lives close to a trail I use to run in back in the day until some land use issues got in the way and it was closed. There is an effort to have this trail re-opended. It would be great if it was opended again. It is a very local trail and would be a great test and tune trail and sunday afternoon trail.
The trail is on BML land and goes down to a creek called Weber Creek. There was a great rock garden at the bottom of the trail to play on. I guess home owners got upset about all the traffic that was headed to the trail so the home owners blocked the entrance of the trail. It has been a battle ever since. Home owners claim the entrance is on private property. Any ways, there is an effort over on pirate4x4.com to have it re-opened to the public. Here is that thread and back story and history of the trail.
Um...what?

One of my co-workers owns the property on the far side of the creek (he's a very nice guy). He offered to let me drive in from his property and run around down by the creek while he watched and threw back a couple of cold ones. I didn't take him up on it becuase I felt like I was intruding.
He told me the trail was closed/blocked becuase of the shooting going on and the trash the loser-users (not the winner-users as most of us are) were leaving back there. These are two good reasons in my mind to close that trail. I hope the Pirate crew helps clean up the problems or the trail will again quickly close if those previous actions strart right back up.

I agree completely. There's a small trAil in South Lake Tahoe that is open only during the summer and there is a gate that's opened and closed daily from 8am-8am. I wish they could work something out like that. Just to have a small window of access would be awesome. There's some good swimming in the creek.
Um...what?

wen i was in British Columbia we had wat was called a key program for Eagle ridge trail
you went to a small city office proved you had 4x4 (usually registration)
paid 50$ and got a gate key
you had to sign papers being responsible for who was with yuo that did not have a key
we used to get disgusted with all the garbadge that was left by idiots (couches household garbadge etc...)
this key program started 2 years ago and is still in affect today
actually works really well

I worked on a trail cleanup on Jergins and helped haul out a lot of trash. Within a few weeks the trail was closed. I've always felt it was a conspiracy by the homeowners - be buddy-buddy with us to get the trash cleaned up then lock us out. 😈
I don't think it was just the guests doing the shooting. One day I was there and there was quite a bit of shooting coming from near one of the houses (not aimed at me thankfully).

Good luck ever getting this trail open to the public. I have personally talked to the homeowners who closed this trail. They had problems with people shooting towards their houses in the past as well as drunk idiots on their quads/4x4's. I used to do this trail with my dad and his friends all the time. Living only a few minutes away it was a great little trail.
There has been talk about putting in a park down there.
