Don't forget about this one!!!
I just got home from attending the first meeting on the Tahoe National Forest Travel Management Plan . There was a meeting from 3 pm to 5 pm to give people a chance to talk one on one with Forest Service people. Only about 30 people showed up . At 6:30p.m. the Forest Service held an overview of the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) until 8:30 p.m. About 200 people showed up for the overview many of them being motorcycle people from local clubs. There was about 15 or 20 CA4WDC members that attended. The Forest did a good job of explaining the process and answering several questions. After the formal meeting many of us talked about the next steps and working together to send in good comments on this important issue. I do not know every trail and road in the Tahoe Forest so I need your help if you see a road or trail that has not been included or needs to have changes made in the process. I'm asking you and your friends to look at the maps and let me know your feelings. You can see the maps at the following WEB site. http://www.fs.fed.us/r5/tahoe/projects_ ... view.shtml Look at Alternative 6 as this is the preferred alternative. That does not mean that this alternative will stay as it is right now. We need to make comments and tell the Forest Service why changes need to be made. Just saying that all roads and trails should stay open does not help we need to tell them what roads and trails need to stay open and the reasons why. Please feel free to contact me if you have questions or would like more information.
