I wanted to give a thumbs up to IH Only in Loomis again. I had them weld my sway bar brackets on last week. He quoted me a half hour labor and ended up spending an hour on it and adding some nice gussets (which he had in stock) for reinforcements, and he stuck to his original quote.
He also gave me a bunch of DOM in the right size for building a drive line if I need to at the Hammers.
If you need welding or fab work done, they do AWESOME work.

Let us see those photos of your upper gussets on the tracbar mount.

The Rubicon Express track-bar mounting bracket you see was cracked in half on the drivers side. Here are pictures after IH Only rewelded, reinforced, and gusetted it. I also had him add a little metal to the lower mounting point as see in the last couple of pics.

Looks beefy, but do they typically only crack at the frame? Why not beef up the whole bracket instead of only the top couple of inches? There's less mechanical advantage as you move away from the frame, but it looks like you may have just moved the weak point. Of course, I haven't spent much time looking at the connection so I may be picturing it wrong in my mind. :dunno:

Now it will just rip the whole bracket and reinforced pieces off. 😯
Looks beefy Tom.

On a side note. If anybody needs anything from IH Only, stop by there and check out the custom suspension they designed and are building on one of the Scouts in the shop. It's pretty impresive.

The bar I described in the earlier post would be a good addition and responds to Keane's valid concerns.

I think your right Keane, that the weak spot is just moved.

I think the bar brace would be a good idea to keep it from moving either way. RE should have some available soon for those who don't want to fab it.

See all that rust in you bottom picture. That is where cracks and weak spots start. People laugh when I paint my underside, but that helps stop corrosion. The only time I have broken brackets, I could trace the break back to an unpainted area that was rusted.

I just stopped washing my Jeep all together. Dirt is a better protectant than paint. I break less than you wink

I just use a semi flat black Rust-Oleum...No prep other then making sure it is clean first and not painting over dirt.

Jeeps must be made of cheap metal. Toyotas don't have that problem.

It's just that these guys wash most of the metal away.

Besides, my Jeep is more Ford than anything else wink

Someday my axels will be too. The tranny on the truck has a leak. Might as well scrap it and use the parts. lol

Keane, that axle in your truck is a piece of junk. I'll be over later to get it out of your way. 😀

Thanks for the tip. Given your mechanical background I'm sure you know what you're talking about. Do you want me to pull it and clean it up for you too?
