The FS is going to be hitting the trail to put in a couple of water bars on the Strawberry side next wednesday and or thursday. They will need volunteers with rakes and shovels to do the finish grading of the trail after the equipment goes through. Please let me know if any members can be there. I might be able to get up there Wednesday but Thursday I have meetings.

Thank you to Brian and Josh for coming out. And yes, good news and bad news for the trail. Good news is that the crew is pushing further up the trail and will be finishing the repairs by the end of next week hopefully. The bad news is that they brought an excavator up from the Strawberry side and had to move a bunch of rocks.
There are 3 or 4 single rocks that have been rolled out of the trail but the operator put them up hill to the side so we should be able to winch all of them bach into place. The waterfall section will have 3 or 4 rocks to move back on its own.
The hydrologist came through and flagged the runoff before and after V-rock as needing water bars. This meant that all of the rocks and logs in that section of trail were moved. We spent a good hour talking with the operator who was willing to put back whatever we wanted and his assistant for the day is a Jeeper so he was looking out for us. We picked the rocks that will go back into place including the same big flat rock in the same location and re-established a step up even with the root before the flat rock. He also said he would drag a few other rocks into the trail in that area so it will be more of a rock garden after the v-rock section.
They will also be placing some rocks on the end of the trail to create a gate keeper of sorts on the 88 side on their way out near the end of next week or early the week after.
Once the work is completed, the hydrologists will survey the trail and note if the repairs satisfy the requirements. If so then it will be passed onto to his boss for approval.
We will be leaving the rocks that need to be rolled onto the trail until the hydrologists survey is completed and we are sure equipment isnt needed any longer. I will organize some work parties to roll the rocks when ready.
