Signup here for running some summer patrols of the trail. I would like to get at least 1 per month but more would be better. In talking with Kyle we need to have more of a presence on the trail leading up to the repairs which should still start with the new fiscal year.
The Basics:
-Must signup here before going
-Minimum 2 rigs, max of 4 (No solo patrols)
-Groups of 4 should split into 2 groups of 2 and meet in the middle on the trail
-All rigs must be stickered member club rigs (non-members can ride along but only with a member in the members rig. sorry prospects, this is part of the contract with the forest service)
-All people must stop by Kyle's office in Camino and sign a JHA. You only have to sign once for the year but everyone needs to sign prior to one of these small patrols. Kyle is usually in the camino office 7 to 9 am thursday through sunday so it is easy to stop by on the morning when you head up.
What you do:
-Be friendly to people on the trail but inform them it is closed and give them a OHV map
-Be friendly, you are advisement not enforcement (but you can let them know that the ticket isnt cheap and because it is closed on a court order the forest service is not allowed to give warnings)
-Be friendly and invite them to reach out to the club and get involved in a trail work day (we arent hunting for members with this but asking to get them on a list for when we need volunteer work, tell them that the more people who help the sooner we can get it re-opened)
-Take pics and perform any basic maintenance work needed.
What next:
-Post up here dates you are interested/free
-When at least 2 can do the same day, I will notify the forest service of the plan
-I will get whomever is going some door magnets, maps to hand out, and some volunteer vests
Also note that there is nothing in our forest service contract that prohibits camping on the trail during a patrol and the 10N13-C spur has 2 campsites with views of the valley. The group of 2 rule still applies to those camping so both rigs must camp.

Kris - Both Gil & Betty & Lynda & I would be interested in a patrol run this Sunday (2 rigs). We would need to coordinate with you or Kyle to get the signs, vests & maps. Would you prefer being the contact, otherwise, I can? We'll have chainsaws & the PPE. If, for some reason, Kyle would prefer this not to happen, please let me know. Thanks.

For all those who are interested to run the patrol, Kyle works 4 x 10's from Thursday through Sunday & bases out of the Camino forest service office (where the chainsaw classes are held). Sign the JHA form once & it's good to the end of this year. We were given magnetic door & strip signs, information & maps, to hand out to anyone you meet up with on the trail, currently in our possession. Let us know that you will be going & we'll get it to you. If this possession changes, we'll post it accordingly.
Be prepared to dive under low hanging tree limbs on the Amador end of the trail, or cut them, if you go before our next maintenance run.
As a reminder, 1 team of 2 rigs or 2 teams of 2 rigs can do the patrol from opposite ends of the trail. Have fun & be safe!

Dale and I would like to do a patrol run on the114th or 15th of October.
I have let kyle know and will fire out when you can stop by the forest service office to pick up materials and sign paperwork. Should be doable the morning of your run but I will want to make sure someone is there.

Brent and I were aired down and on the trail by 10:30 am, and off by 3:30 pm. We talked to 5 people about the trail being closed and handed out the maps Kyle had given us. We only saw 2 motorcycles and 3 ATV's the whole day. I managed to lose one of the door magnets off of my truck, apparently some where before V rock because it is not on the door in the pics. The weather was great and maid for a great patrol. The trail looked great from all the hard work the club did 2 weeks before with the maintenance run.
