First thing, these closures are temporary due to storm damage so I apologize if I wasn't clear about that at the meeting.
Swamp lake is reported to have been cleared from the north side to the restrooms and a group is going up to clear the south end saturday. If they confirm that all 46 trees have been cleared from the trail then it could re-open as soon as Sunday.
Dusy has 28 downed trees in the first 5.7 miles of the trail from the south and 75+ down on the whole trail. Work will start next week on the tree clearing. There is still the issue of two small failed bridges and a bunch of new alluvial sediment in Ershim creek where the trail crosses. Both of these issues require input from a hydrologists and the bridge issue will require the FS to put boots on the ground which takes time. No specific opening time has been identified but the trail opening this year is a possibility. Not super reassuring but certainly more hopeful than the previous position from the FS.
