Thanks for letting us show up late. I'm glad we decided to go. Again, a fun fun time. Thank you Kris for organizing this. We have some good discussion items for the next meeting. I've got some pictures (how surprising huh?) to post. Also, if anyone takes pix and wants me to post for u, txt them to me and I will. 214.629.4428

Here is a copy of the text I sent to kyle about this run. I also included a map and images for him. Sorry for the dry descriptions, Im not sure what Kyle needs for his paperwork so I wrote it more official than a typical just for us trail recap. See Below:
Around 8:30am club members gathered in the parking lot of a gas station in Pollock Pines. After about 13 club vehicles had gathered a quick drivers meeting was held and the group headed up the hill. At approximately 9:00am we met with Kyle Johnson for El Dorado National Forest at the M.E.T. info site approximately 3.4 miles up Iron Mountain Road (ELD-91/10N50) from the Junction with Sly Park Road (ELD-90).
There was initially about an inch of packed snow on the road at M.E.T. info site which lies at about 4,000ft elev. We chose to setup the info booth at this site. A portion of the group then did a run up the road while the remainder manned the info booth. Operation of the booth consisted mainly of letting people know that the road was closed at the top, advising 2wd vehicles to turn around, and handing out maps to recreational users. Weather was light slush and temps in the 40s so the snow on the road was melting quickly.
At around 11:30am the remainder of the group returned from up the hill with stories of stuck wheelers and the number of people up the hill. With the snow in the road largely melted it was decided to move the info booth up the road. The info booth was moved a further 2.2 miles up the road to the intersection of Park Creek Rd (ELD-88) where there was still 3-4 inches of snow in the road (4,300ft elev.). A 2wd vehicle was pulled out of the snow bank by club members as we drove up to the second booth location.
A prospect from our club obtained membership status by providing a chili lunch for those in attendance. After lunch and hot-coco, another group broke up to again head up the mountain. The booth was operated until 4:00pm when teardown started but we continued to hand out info to passing vehicles until approximately 4:30pm.
In all, the vast majority of vehicles that went through were 4x4 and knew what they were doing. About a half dozen vehicles came through attempting to reach HWY 88 and all but a few of the 2wd vehicles that came through listened to our advisement to turn around.
Around 5pm the box of booth supplies was returned to Kyle at the Camino Forest Service office with our volunteer signup list and traffic counts.
