Hey there. I was at the club meeting tonight and I'm interested in taking this class. My chainsaw currently needs some work (its just not running right), but it sounded like I didn't need to bring any gear?
Correct. While i suggest bringing your own saw since that is what you will be using on the trail, they do have saws for you to borrow. I would bring your own safety gear though. They have gear to borrow but it looks... "sweaty"?

Sounds good. I'll get my saw running right this weekend, and gather up the required safety gear.

If you use a chainsaw outside of club trail maintenance activity then it is good to own the safety equipment. If you don't have much need to use a chainsaw, then you can probably borrow the safety equipment from another member when doing club related trail maintenance or training. Assuming you have boots that meet the requirements, you should be able to purchase the chaps, gloves, hearing protection, eye protection and a safety helmet for under $200.
