Saturday, August 2nd

Meet at Fresh pond Gas station at 830, leave at 9AM

This is a short notice run, but easy and no vehicle requirements beyond recovery points.  Though a recovery strap and airing down capability would be nice.

Meet at Fresh pond gas station.

Leave for Kyburz

Run Long Canyon

Run over Packsaddlepass Rd to a Cody lake overlook trail.

Run that overlook trail

Run over to the Strawberry Pass trail

Run the Strawberry Pass Trail.

Exit on 88, air up and return home.

Please plan to bring some loppers/trimmers, trash bags and gloves.  We can do some quick maintenance on Strawberry if Kris is ok with this being a maintenance run too.

Nothing difficult here other than I have not been on the long canyon trail in a few years and it may have changed since my last time.

Is anyone interested?

Kathleen and Brad

I want to go. I am still trying to convince Amy to go. I will more than likely go by myself if i have to.

Take photos of the washout on long canyon and any work you do on any of those trails. They are all covered under our volunteer agreement and we can count hours from the trip. Let me get a sign in sheet template for you.

I can make this run but due to other obligations can only do the Long Canyon and Cody Lake part of the run.  I will then be heading home down Hwy 50.  Is the thought to have lunch at Cody Lake??  If lunch is before you all head up Strawberry, I will bring ice cream!!

It looks like a smaller group of us tomorrow so we can determine what fits our schedule and adjust accordingly.

Still meeting at Fresh pond Chevron.  This is down the grade after sly park.

I know Jeff has to cut out earlier, so we can discuss pace and timing as we go.

We will start by running up Long Canyon, and then over Packsaddlepass to some trails I am familiar with - no map peaking Jeff!

See everyone at 830 tomorrow!

I too made it back to town by 5PM.

What a great run everyone!

Long Canyon turned out to be more challenging than expected, and it needs some maintenance.

The Cody Lake Overlook portion also had several trees down with people creating by passes, these too require saws to clear and restore the trails.  but the overlook was a great lunch spot!

Guy and Lynda and Jeff aired up and left after these runs.

Anthony and myself continued on to Strawberry Pass and out 88.  It was a fun drive and there are a few trees (plus many more trees on the Strawberry Canyon Rd portion) that can be cleared.

Many of us have pics so we will try to get them up!

Anthony and Amy have 3 runs under their belt, and have not made a meeting yet.  I believe this is a first!  Congrats!!!

What a great day. Aside from the challenges of long canyon, I also haven't been on this for quite some time, the weather was a model day, lunch was set at a panoramic place & Jeff L., Tony & Aimee seemed to enjoy it as well, all under the guidance of Brad, who knew the areas well. Thanks, Brad, for your last-minute reach out for this run, it was well worth it.

Thanks Brad for planning a great run, perfect trail for me.  Made it home by 4:30.  Long Canyon did have some moderate obstacles but no one had any problems, your spotting and knowledge of the area was awesome!  Cody Lake overlook very picturesque spot for lunch.

Thank you Jeff for posting this pic.  Kris had requested it.  They did remediate the wash out, though other parts of the trail have create nice challenges.
