If you are going to start a new thread, you might want to update this one with all the info like when and what time.
Thank you Sensei.
Meet at 8:30AM at Fresh Pond Chevron Station off Hwy 50.
This is a continuation for the clean up of the trail that started on 11N36 through 17E78, 11N22A back to 11N22 loop.
This is a maintenance run so please bring tools, glovers, loppers, chainsaws, cordless hedge trimmers, tree limbing saws, sunscreen, bug spray, hats, and protective equipment and anything else you can think of to make it a pleasant and safe day. Make sure your fire extinguishers are in good and working condition.
Again, as with the first maintenance run, there aren’t any vehicle requirements. But be sure you have proper front and rear recovery points and bring a proper recovery strap and D-rings.
This has also been posted to the calendar.

What a fun day! Time well spent out in the Sierras, with good people and helping maintain our beautiful forest.
We again worked on 11N36 where we left off back in June. There were 8 rigs, 11 people. We managed to clear a mile!!!
We met at Freshpond, had donuts to celebrate Jill's bday and headed out about 8:45. We worked like dogs till afternoon "ish" then had a fun, relaxing lunch just shouting the breeze. We solved several world problems in our discussions.
Then we played a little. Headed up over the summit, stopped at a turn around and took pics of the massive slide that crosses Strawberry at V Rock. Kris and gang went onward to check the gate at Strawberry. It was opened, so they closed it for us. The other 1/2 went back up the trail and stopped at the bridge right before the turnoff to 11N22. Funny enough we met up with Kris and gang on their loop around.
I have pictures I will post in a while.
Thanks everyone for a fun day! We will do it again, because as you said, there is more to be done.

Guy does some good work with his chain saw. Most of the sections he was clearing are as wide as a freeway. Lynda can confirm measurements but approximately 1/4 mile remain to be cleared on the 11N36 side of the trail including a few hundred feet of 2" diameter saplings. Once the turn is reached the brush thins out. There is one large log (2.5 ft diameter) at the summit that is suspended about 4ft off the ground that will make for an interesting removal. Once over the summit most of the issues are with deadfall and sporadic patches of brush. If the group splits and hits it from both sides they would actually meet at a reasonable lunch time now.
The gate to strawberry was open and large rocks rolled to keep the gate open. Took 2 of us to roll one of them. We closed and moved the rocks in front of the gate. Lots of tire tracks on the trail, mostly dirt bikes. I think we might need to post a sign on the tree stating something about being closed for remediation and when it is slated to re-open.
There is also a tree down across the road leading up to the strawberry trailhead not 10 feet from where we cleared those 2 large trees of the first strawberry run. It is deadfall so it has broken into about six pieces and one section has been rolled out of the road to allow vehicles to pass. We will need to make a few more cuts on this and move it on the 11th.

I have confirmed via GIS that an honest mile of trail was cleared though some was pre or partially cleared on the June trip. Approximately 2,100 ft remains to be cleared before the 17E78 turnoff and the first 100ft or so of 17E78 could use a trim. Once past the first 100ft the trail enters some thicker trees where the brush isn't an issue. About 550ft in from 11N36, the trail crosses the summit and descends back to 11N22/11N22A. The trail is well defined and little clearing needs to be done on this section. Specifically there is deadfall and some half a dozen or so short ~50ft patches of brush needing clearing. (for those who went and hit this section a second time, is there any significant clearing that I am forgetting?) Once at the second intersection of 11N22 the trail opens up and is easily passible.
Please see the attached map. I will upload a higher resolution version in the Gallery.

I thought there was a couple of sections in the yellow needed very little cleaning and Jill just verified what I thought. If we set up some people go up that side and meet in the middle it will all be good.

Great work Kris. Yes ur estimates are what we noted as well. Guy agrees with u on cutting the trees that have fallen over/near the main trail and the level of brush that still exist. And the strategy u talked about with people taking both sides is good! All sounds good. We will bring the donuts. Fall sounds wonderful Brad!
